And the bad news just keeps coming for the New York Yankees.

Just hours after placing first baseman Mark Teixeira on the disabled list, the New York Yankees announced that third baseman Kevin Youkilis will be out for 10-12 weeks with a herniated disk.

Youk has struggled to stay on the field for the Yankees this season, his first in pinstripes and now with an estimated timetable of return that would stretch into August, more likely September, you can pretty much write off his season.

Per CBS’ Danny Kobler:

Yankees say Youkilis has herniated disk, needs surgery. Out at least 10-12 weeks.

The Youkilis signing will turn out to be a costly one for the Yankees who signed the former longtime Boston Red Sox infielder to a one year, $12 million dollar deal this past offseason.

Youkilis will hit the disabled list with a .219 average, 2 home runs and 8 RBI through 28 games.

It’s a sad fall from grace for the former cult favorite in Boston who hasn’t played over 120 games now since the 2009 season and has looked like a shell of his former self in the process.

After an almost shocking scratch prior to Game 3, the Chicago Blackhawks will reportedly be graced with the presence of their leading playoff scorer in Game 4 against the Boston Bruins.

Chicago Head Coach Joel Quenneville announced on Tuesday that Hossa was “likely to play” when the teams meet on Wednesday, just one day after he was removed from the lineup prior to the opening faceoff of Game 3. There has been alarming lack of detail surrounding Hossa’s scratch, but an “upper body injury” is the reported culprit, and the Blackhawks have no incentive to elaborate past that point.

Hossa is tied for the team lead in playoff scoring, as he has produced 15 points, and frankly, the Chicago offense is a different animal when he is on the ice. While Ben Smith (the player who was substituted for Hossa just before the game) isn’t a terrible option for Chicago, the drop-off is significant, and it is a real possibility that Hossa’s deployment could be the key to Game 4.

With Chicago trailing 2-1 in the series, it would be terribly surprising to see Hossa sit again, especially after this declaration by Quenneville. Stranger things have happened, but I would thoroughly expect to see the long-time star on the ice for Wednesday night.

It appears the Orlando Magic may have good reasoning behind the most recent report suggesting that they’re more interested in Indiana product Victor Oladipo than Kansas guard Ben McLemore.

McLemore was nearly a shoe in to be drafted by the Magic after the NBA Draft Combine held in Chicago but McLemore has reportedly unimpressed during multiple workouts, leaving many insiders to suggest that his stock on the big board is slipping.

The one time suggested number two overall pick (and some even had McLemore going first overall) has fallen to the fifth spot in ESPN Insider Chad Ford’s most recent mock draft, being selected by the Phoenix Suns.

The Kansas guard reportedly “struggled to keep up” and was “lacking effort” during two recent workouts in Orlando and Phoenix, which isn’t exactly a good look for a player who has already had his motivation and desire questioned by NBA scouts.

We’ve seen players fall from grace repeatedly during NBA Drafts, so the question begs, is McLemore actually slipping?

With Nerlens Noel most likely going first overall (if not, top three), how far does he fall? If Orlando passes, one could assume the Washington Wizards would as well since their backcourt is well covered with John Wall and Bradley Beal. The Charlotte Bobcats could be a player but they may pass too, which would drop McLemore to fifth. It’s hard to envision the talented guard falling any further though.

And now, Cash Money is looking to bring back the Big Tymers but with a different twist. Mannie Fresh would be excluded from the relaunch of the group and Young Money superstars Lil Wayne and Drake would be added instead.

It started in May when former MTV VJ Sway asked about new Big Tymers Music and Birdman responded, ”Wayne, me and Drake.” When asked if Mannie Fresh would be a part of the group Birdman simply said no.

That trio aren’t strangers to one another and have been putting music out featuring one another for some time. In reality this isn’t much different from what we currently see come out of the YMCMB camp. They all feature one another regularly, now it would just be an album of collaborations under the name “Big Tymers.”

I personally think that they should rebrand the trio as something separate then Big Tymers, or simply as YMCMB would suffice. And I have another question.

Why is Nicki Minaj not added into the mix?

Minaj is certainly more talented than Birdman, a majority of his success has come of features from Lil Wayne and other rappers. Lil Wayne and Birdman have teamed up before to release a collaboration album called Like Father, Like Son similar to Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaboration, Watch the Throne. There was even an entire Young Money roster album called We Are Young Money, that had several hits including “Bedrock” and “Steady Mobbin’.”

They didn’t release that album under a name, just as “Birdman & Lil Wayne.” Adding Nicki Minaj would make a rap group stand out by having a female presence., not to mention capitalizing on her market of fans as well. Her versatility as a rapper and singer would certainly be useful as well in hooks and choruses as well as verses.

In a story published by JA Adande of ESPN.com, Miami Heat forward/center Chris Bosh had some very interesting comments about the team’s defensive approach to stopping Danny Green in Game 6.

The headline quote was as follows:

He has a knack for shooting, but he won’t be open tonight. We’ll see how he shoots with somebody always on him.

At first glance, it isn’t a shocking revelation for one of Miami’s “Big Three” to discuss shutting down the leading candidate for NBA Finals MVP. However, there has been a clear defensive approach from Miami through the first 5 games, and having “somebody always on” Green would be a clear departure from that.

With Green shooting an absolutely incredible 66% from three-point distance in the Finals (25 for 38), his performance on Tuesday night will be one of the bigger stories of the evening, but the bigger story for me will be the way that Erik Spoelstra elects to defend San Antonio as a whole. They’ve been committing multiple defenders to try to alleviate Tony Parker’s penetration, but if there is a wholesale shift to “stay home” on shooters, Parker could have an absolute field day against the Miami guards.

We’ll know soon enough, but the fact that Danny Green is this big of a story on the day of Game 6 of the NBA Finals reminds us that sports are better than everything.

If the Miami Heat are to avoid elimination and force a Game 7, they will need to find a way to step up their game tonight at home against the San Antonio Spurs. One loss for the Heat and their season comes to a disappointing end, so this is truly a do or die scenario for the team.

Miami has been impressive in the past when their backs were against the wall, so you should expect the team to come out aggressive as they look to make an early statement and jump out to a quick lead.
